Why Is The Itunes Store So Pricey?

I recently went there because I missed an episode of my favorite show so I had to download. One episode alone costs $2.99, and then I looked around & I see that a whole season of some shows are $40-60 bucks? I can get 3-4 seasons of a show for that amount on eBay or Amazon. It's ridiculous.

    Stores charge what they believe their customers are willing to pay.
    iTunes must have a reason to believe that people want to watch those shows badly enough to pay that much for them.
